![]() ![]() Like the previous expansions, Decay shows the story of Half-Life from the perspective of a different set of protagonists. The player guides Freeman in an attempt to escape the facility and close the portal, ultimately traveling to Xen to do so. In Half-Life, the player takes on the role of Gordon Freeman, a scientist involved in an accident that opens an inter-dimensional portal to the borderworld of Xen, allowing the alien creatures of Xen to attack the facility. ![]() Half-Life takes place at a laboratory called the Black Mesa Research Facility, situated in a remote desert in New Mexico. Plot Ĭolette Green and Gina Cross in Decay the models used in the game were of a significantly higher quality than in previous Half-Life titles.ĭecay is set in the same location and timeframe as Half-Life. Should players successfully complete the game's nine missions with "A" grades on every level, they are given access to a bonus cooperative mission, in which they can play as a pair of Vortigaunts, as well as the ability to play through the PlayStation 2 version of the original Half-Life as a Vortigaunt. This score is based on each player's accuracy with weapons, the number of kills they acquired and the amount of damage they sustained during the course of the mission. How players perform in each mission is ranked at the conclusion of the level as a grade from "A" to "F". #Half life opposing force last boss series#The game is unique in the context of the Half-Life series in that it is the only game divided into separate missions, each with a specific objective to pursue, instead of consisting of a single unbroken narrative. Although developed after Opposing Force, no non-player characters or weapons from the earlier expansion appear in Decay. The players have access to a limited selection of Half-Life 's weaponry to assist them in the game. An array of enemy characters from Half-Life populate the game, including alien lifeforms such as headcrabs and Vortigaunts, as well as human soldiers sent in to contain the alien threat. While Decay still features levels where this is the case, significant sections in Decay are dedicated to working with friendly non-player characters, usually escorting them to various objectives and protecting them in firefights. In Half-Life, players usually fight alone and only occasionally encounter friendly non-player characters who assist them, such as security guards and scientists. When not in use, a character has sufficient artificial intelligence to defend themselves, but otherwise does not move from where they have been left by the player. In this case, the player can only control one character at a time, and can switch between the two characters quickly. Although intended to be played by two people in split screen mode, Decay can still be played by a single player. This requires players to work together to progress through the game's levels and complete puzzles as they arise in-game. However, Decay differs from Half-Life and its first two expansion packs, Opposing Force and Blue Shift, in that it is designed for cooperative multiplayer gameplay. Like the original title it is based on, Decay requires players to engage in combat with hostile non-player characters and complete various puzzle solving tasks to advance through the game. ![]() A number of reviews stated that the game simply felt like little more than an extra add-on for the PlayStation 2 version of Half-Life.ĭecay is played in a split screen mode, as seen here.Īs is the case with the other games in the Half-Life series, Decay is a first-person shooter. Many reviewers felt the game was fun to play through with a friend, but that its more puzzle-oriented gameplay somewhat detracted from the overall experience. Decay is a cooperative multiplayer game, designed to be played by two people working together to pass through the game's levels.ĭecay was not a critical success, but was received with some positivity by video game journalists. It is the third expansion pack for Half-Life, and like its predecessors, Decay returns to the setting and timeline of the original story, albeit portraying the story from the viewpoint of a different set of protagonists: two female scientists working in the Black Mesa Research Facility. #Half life opposing force last boss software#Developed by Gearbox Software and published by Sierra On-Line, Decay was released as part of the PlayStation 2 version of Half-Life in 2001. Auto Shipping Reviews: Our Recommendation Typically respectable and reliable companies will be members of the BBB, but that doesn’t mean that a company that isn’t registered with the BBB is not reliable or respectable. They can get poor ratings by having a lot of bad reviews or other negative feedback, and so most companies who are members of the BBB want to keep a high rating. When QuickTime X was first released in 2009, many thought that it would eventually add those missing features, catching up to and surpassing its predecessor. Setting up a whole iMovie project to do some format conversions or make a quick trim or two is overkill Apple at least acknowledged the latter by adding a basic Trim feature to QuickTime X, but the rest of QT7’s Pro features are still MIA. But what it doesn’t have is a good utility for dealing with simple media tasks. After all, the company has iMovie and Final Cut Pro for consumer and professional video-editing needs. It’s understandable that Apple didn’t invest a lot of time in bringing those pro features to QuickTime X. (And there are those, like our friend John Siracusa, who simply want a media player where the controls don’t appear on top of the video.) Most of those fell by the wayside in the far more basic QuickTime X, which is focused much more on media playback than on any editing features. The Pro features of QuickTime 7 include making simple edits by cutting and pasting sections of tracks, the ability to export specific tracks from a multi-track file (such as podcasters get if they use a recording utility like Ecamm’s Call Recorder), creating and viewing chapter marks within a file, and more. This amp now drives Dynaudio's system 220 and two JBL gtx8's (another suprise from JBL, who would have guessed.Ī ridiculous amount of dynamat(covered from top of firewall to back of cab) I have used this amp to drive soundsteams reference seperates and a JBL gti1000( don't laugh, I did not think it could be of high enough caliber until I tried a bunch of "high end" subs)and it was awsome and unrelenting as far as power and clarity. I will never, ever purchase another Soundstream product ever again. #Soundstream car stereo reviews pro#The amplifier was powering my Dynaudio seperates in the front, and Boston Pro coaxials in the rear. When the amplifier was working, the sound quality was mediocre anyway. I eventually replaced the $400.00 paperweight with a Rockford Fosgate 550X. When I brought my amplifier back to the dealer the second time, another customer was purchasing a Rockford amplifier to replace his broken Soundstream paperweight. Apparently, Soundstream's quality control recently went down the sh#tter. The dealer told me that I am not the only unfortunate victim of the Soundstream name. When I brought the amplifier back to the dealer, there was a "graveyard" of broken Soundstream amps in his back room. After trouble shooting, I traced the problem back to the amplifier. When I turned my stereo on one night a few weeks ago, popping noises started coming through the system. The amplifier was returned a few weeks later, and worked for about three months. The dealer decided to have the amplifier fixed for me locally by a reputable electronics repairman. Soundstream was apparently not interested in doing any warranty work. He was told that that the waiting period for warranty work was between three and six months. The dealer I bought it from contacted Soundstream, who gave him the runaround. The amplifier broke after about three weeks of usage. This is the worst piece of SH#T that I have ever owned. Out of all of the 4 channel amps I have run in the past, or dealt with, the Rubicon 604 is definately among the best. The amplifier is mounted upside down on the ceiling of my trunk (a no no for most amps, especially Soundstream.), however I have a fan blowing across the heatsinks to keep it cool. I have had no problems with clipping, and heat is minimal. It gives them plenty of power to thrive on, and NO distortion. I have run 6 amps on the Polks and this one is BY FAR the most musical. meaning too much distortion, too little power, etc.). My JL 4"s don't take much to be happy, however the Polk Dbs are pretty picky about what they like (they are strictly a sound quality series, so they perform ackwardly with many amps that don't feed them right. Soundstream gave the amp a generic rating of "S/N >100db" and "THD <.1%", however the actual ratings are around 112-115db S/N and. The amp is running 4ohm loads at 85+ underrated Watts per channel (more realistically around 100 Watts of continuous power per channel). #Soundstream car stereo reviews series#I am running it off of an Alpine CDA-9815 headunit to a pair of Polk Audio Db series 6.5" components, and a pair of JL Audio 4" components. This amplifier does just that, and it does it well. but only to take the signal put out from the headunit and, well, amplify it. It is not supposed to add anything in, or take anything out. The purpose of an amplifier is to do just that.
